--History--
Dragons in this world may work a little differently than your idea of an average dragon. In Leriso, the first three dragon eggs were discovered underneath Drahonkal by it's forefathers. Unfortunately, after the dragon eggs were discovered, the current tutors/mages of Drahonkal realized that none of them had the talent to actually hatch the eggs. For years they were left untended, a prized ornament in the academy. Many students were brought forth in an attempt to hatch the eggs but to no avail. Many years later, a baby was taken in by the Drahonkal tutors. He was named Kolirnirothil Koro, and around his 100th birthday Kolir was tested. Fate would have it that the day of Kolir's testing fell on the day of the coronation of Vulcanus Arundur, then 200 years old. Silkamolus was also celebrating the marriage of their new king to his wife, Iskassa Arundur, then 100 years old as well.
Amazingly, Kolir was able to "call" to the dragons within the eggs, and all three hatched shortly after his arrival to the Hatchery. The first, a crimson male larger than most of the others, was bonded to Vulcanus. The second, an elegant yet fierce-looking jet black female, was bonded to the newly named Queen as a "wedding present". Lastly, a large, silver male bonded to Kolir himself. It was determined that day that Kolir would be granted the title of Scholar and tutor at Drahonkal as a result of his affinity with the dragons. Kolir became the resident "dragon master" of Leriso. Thus far, only the royal family possesses dragons, with the exception of Kolir himself.
After the first hatching, Kolir travelled the world with a retinue of guards in an attempt to find more hidden eggs. In that period of time, 7 more eggs were discovered. 50 years after the coronation of Vulcanus, a daughter was born, and Kolir hatched another egg that was then bonded to the Royal heir, Siva Arundur. 100 years later, another egg was hatched for the second princess, Lisassasya Arundur. A mere 30 years following that, the most recent egg was hatched (20 years ago), which was bonded to the young prince of Silkamolus, Vaugrcau Arundur. No dragons have been hatched for 20 years.
--Dragon Information--
Dragon's act as companions and personal "guards" to the Royal family. The Dragons themselves "bond" to an individual. Dragons always bond male to male, and female to female. That is to say that a male dragon will always bond with a male being. Typically, the bonding process is lengthy, and requires intense communication between the dragon and their intended owner. The only known dragon master is Kolir, as of now. It is thought that the remaining 4 dragons will be bonded outside of the Royal family, as it seems that Iskassa does not intend to have any more children.
The Dragons of Leriso speak telepathically to their bonded, and only to others in times of need. It is proven that if two dragon bonded individuals share an intimate relationship, so will their dragons. This was demonstrated by the connection between Iskassa and Vulcanus' dragons, although Iskassa and Vulcanus' dragons have yet to produce their own offspring.
Dragons have total control over fire mastery. As creatures born of ash and flame they know as much, if not more, as the Scholars teaching fire mastery and fire magics. A Dragon's bonded can gain access to this wealth of knowledge and power simply by having that bond. Thus, Vulcanus and his family are renowned for their exceptional mastery of fire magic.
If you have been told that you are bonding a dragon, the first step is to make your way to the Hatchery. There, Kolir will guide you through the necessary steps of bonding. Usually the bonded will remain at Drahonkal for a short period of time while they adjust to their new companion, as the power can be quite overwhelming initially.
