Old Montreal is home to one of the most diverse Vampire societies in the world. Vampires who managed to cross the ocean but couldn't find the funds to return home found solace in the faux-european culture of Montreal. Hunters don't dare to hunt through the streets of Montreal, but dangers still lurk for the undead of Montreal as only the bravest and most skilled hunters venture through. As for the other nighttime associations, the Mages and Werewolves choose mostly to keep away from such retreats.
Because of a pact written up in the 18th century the three societies vowed to avoid each other altogether and avoid combat at all costs.

Downtown is the swanky district of Montreal. The aristocratic families of the Vampire clans rule here and their rules are strict and dependent on the kine. This area is Vampire-Only as designated in the 1830 pact. None other than Vampires may tread on this land for if another puts their foot upon it, war shall encumber Montreal. Since no life form wishes war upon the serenity of Montreal, none other than Vampires walked these lands since Montreal's formation.
However, that is not to say that other races haven't dared to enter this area. Frankly, it happens more than most, but the Kindred are instructed to kill on sight anything that hasn't received expressed permission to be there (and most times even those that have.) So, if you be of any race other than Kindred, tread upon this land at your own risk.
